Isiah Thomas interested in ESPN NBA analyst position

Isiah Thomas is in the market for another job. This time, he would like to work as an analyst, a decision that comes a little over five months after his firing from Florida International.

Speaking on a FOXSports.com podcast, Thomas explained his desire to work for ESPN. He did not go into detail about his meeting with New York Knicks owner James Dolan, however.

?I've auditioned for the job, if they pick me that would be great,? Thomas said, according a New York Post transcription. ?I would love to be a part of the show and give my thoughts and opinions on championship basketball and NBA basketball and life in general in the NBA.?

Thomas, who has worked as a coach, general manager and consultant in New York, said he is more interested in taking a job in broadcasting. Speculation that Thomas was going back to the Knicks started when the former Detroit Pistons point guard had an early September lunch with Dolan. The lunch was just a meeting between friends, Thomas said.

?Jim Dolan and I had lunch as we often do, and we are very good friends, and we talk from time to time,? Thomas said. ?I have great relationships with the organization, so I guess there was some speculation as there's always been about me going back there. And that's where it's at.?

Thomas? failures as an executive with the Knicks and Continental Basketball Association are well known. Instead of going that route, Thomas would like to join ?NBA Countdown? show on ESPN and work with long-time friend Magic Johnson.

?Magic and I always debated basketball, had different opinions about basketball, the way we look at the league and the way I look at the league has been totally different,? Thomas said. ?He comes at it from a point where he joins a great team and a great organization and we had to work our way up from the bottom.?
